About ULRP

The Udero Lal Research Project or ULRP is an international and multidisciplinary project funded by the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and hosted by the Centre for South Asian Studies (http://ceias.ehess.fr/) at the School for Advanced Study in Social Sciences, Paris (EHESS). The ULRP focuses on a sacred figure worshipped by Muslims and Hindus in Pakistan and in India, which is known under a variety of names, but Udero Lal looks to be the more ancient, although in Pakistan and India today, it is mainly named Jhulelal. The figure first appears in historical sources as late as in the 18th Century.
